Are you ready? <_< .........Good! ^_^ Because it's time!!!! It is time for me to reveal to you my personal favorite pieces from Life Drawing! *cue the applause!* Together these three pieces are titled the "Life" series. I couldn't be more satisfied with the statements I got when I showed them in the final critique. What touched me the most was when my instructor said, "I love how you've taken what you've learned in life drawing and brought it back home." I felt amazing hearing this because it means that I've been able to develop a style of imagery that people recognize within my work consistently. *cue the applause again!* Thank you, thank you. *bows*

I was so stoked for this class after reading what we were going to be doing. All I had to hear was drawing from our thoughts and subconsious and I got excited. Because thats how I roll with my imagery! The thoughts can relax and be at ease and the hand and imagination are free to roam.

- The longing to catch the eye and interest of a single person with each creation.

-Those moments when hearing a word or sentence and it immediately sparks the emotion of being inspired within.

-The overwhelming sense of joy and eagerness to create when getting over artist's block. It's like wanting to jet off like a rocket with your creativeness!

- That sense of release and letting go then working furiously like a maniac. It's one of the ultimate feelings when drawing, painting...creating. ^_^ I crave it.

- The pride felt when people compliment my artwork.

- The excitement and eagerness to grow and learn as an artist and person. The want to hit the ground running and take in as much knowledge as I can.

- The want to meet new people and show them what I can do and take in what they can also.
-The feeling of accomplishment after finishing a creation.

- That feeling of accomplishment after completeing an art class for the semester. I came, I listened, I learned, I drew, I worked hard, I fell, I got back up, I gave it my all, and I conquered. As I stand before my work, covering the wall, each semester I smile a little, have my moment, then nod and say "...Good job." Then I go on my way with my head held high and my pride intact...having grown as an artist and as a person.

Heck yea...I'm an Artist! XD

Gettin' Fruity

Alright people we're gettin' fruity haha XD This is another one from Life Drawing class. So, here they are! This is my final project for Printmaking 1. I used black paper and white ink on three images. The imagery is the best I pulled out of my head that semester. The first one being titled Set Free From the Block. The reason for this title being I had artist block the day before, which I sadly suffer from at least once every semester.

For those of you who don't know what artist's block is allow me to explain it to you. Imagine your running in a race and YOUR IN THE LEAD!!! XD Your running and running and your full of life and its exhilarating! Then suddenly.....this big block the size of a house falls down in front of you ._. You slow down before hitting it but now your stuck. You can't go around the block and you can't climb over it. Your stuck! Suddenly your inspiration goes dry and you just don't have that thrill anymore. So you sulk around until the block moves and your inspiration comes back to get back up and run. For an artist Artist's Block is terrible and frustrating.

All my inspiration was gone and I just couldn't bring myself to create anything for a few days. (which is not a good thing during finals week because I was crammed for time already! GAH!! >_<) But thankfully by I was able to break free from my block and everything just came bursting out like fireworks :) So here are my images for you to see and enjoy ^_^

No Matter What was done for my 8 year old brother Kaidon. We're connected from the soul inside and out ^_^ The story behind this comes from when I was back in high school. Many a moons ago *sigh* <_< .....Anyway, I was about 4 hours from home competing in a school music festival. When one night I didn't feel right and I felt like I needed to call home. I tried to shake it off thinking I was being ridiculous, but I couldn't so I called home. And I recieved the news that Kaidon was in the hospital and getting surgery to get part of his colon out. He's okay now! But that just goes to show the bond we have between each other. Even when we're miles apart we're still connected ^_^

Searching was done to represent searching for inspiration while having my artists block. I was chatting with a friend in the art studio and I was like, "Dude, I have no idea what to draw right now."

Friend: "Well, what do you usually draw?"
Me: "Well, I usually draw along with however I'm feeling at the moment."
Friend: "Well, how do you feel?"
Me: "I don't know....I'm searching. I guess trying to find some inspir-.....Oh."

Thus searching was born! Tah daah

Collage!

Hey everyone!

First, I apologize for my lack of blogging this semester. It was wrong of me to stoke you up with a fun post like the one below then not follow up a whole semester with nothing! *raises right hand* This next semester I promise to keep you up dated better with my newest creations. Good news is! I have been VERY productive this semester. So, I will have a bunch of new creations to share with you. Starting....NOW!

These are in order of dates created. The mediums I used are pen and ink. My process was drawing from a live model first then adding the colored ink afterwards. I ripped out some magazine picutres. Fun ^_^ Then arragened them around the image and sealed them on the paper with matte medium. The last step was dripping the ink down the paper over top of the images. Ooober fun ^_^ Main reason for this was so the images didn't over power the human figure. Then my last touch was splattering silver and gold ink onto the image. Then BAM! Collage's!!! :) Enjoy ^_^ This series it called "Arise"

Title: Cacade

Title: Tumble

Title: Flow

WHOOO!!!!

Hey people!!! :D

I feel stoked to be up and blogging again! Another school semester has started and I am ready to hit the ground running. OH! And in case you haven't noticed, I redecorated my blog :D *cue the applause* For my first post of the semester I would like to share with you some random fun things. First! The other day at the coffee shop we did tattoo art while I was working. I figure if all else fails I can always go into the tattoo business.

My friend Ariels's imagery that I did. There's Tim Burton's Jack and Sherann Johnson's.....little ghost figure thingy...I haven't thought of a name for it yet ._.

Jen's imagery. This is my character also...its a springy thing...name to come also ^_^

Self portrait I did for Life Drawing 1. I have done a total of 4 self portraits already for classes....and I dislike all of them ^_^ So, this time I decided that I was going to create one that I could look and be happy with...so I did XD!

Oh yea! I visited the Museum of the Rockies this summer and walked through the Leonardo da Vinci exhibit. It was awesome. O_O I have a picture somewhere of a bridge that I put together that was one of da Vinci's ideas. I'll post it when I find it. The exhibit was awesome though! It had life size models built of da Vinci's inventions that he thought of, some imagery of his paintings, a giant timeline of his life, and a bunch of other cool stuff. Once again I didn't really think about it being reversed when I did an artist's proof of it, but it was okay, because it actually worked the other way around also. Life is going so well with printmaking. I have found a new love in the wonderful world of art. This is a process that I definitely want to keep doing in time down the road. What I have for you today is a print titled "Fabrication Tree." This one is a copper print. The inspiration came from the world, "fabricated." A classmate of mine used it to describe my artwork and it stuck in my head for awhile. So, much so that I created a drawing of a tree. I chose to use a tree because I wanted to see what my brain would come up with if I did one and because we needed the image to tell a story for the assignment. The tree representes my growth as an artist and the characters are coming out of the tree...like the they would out of my head and onto paper. ^_^ No, they are not hanging from their necks. I tried to be careful about that but some people still read it that way. Oh well haha.

Here's the original drawing

And the first one on the right is the print before I used a technigue known as Aqua-tinting. For that process we sprayed over the original image with an air bursh and then stopped out the areas we wanted white (or not shaded). Aqua-tinting is used for adding hues and shades. So, the second picture is of the plate after doing the aquatinting process.

Well, there you have it. I'll have more to show you tomorrow! ^_^

Lots of Love!

- Sherann Johnson

Sketchbook Stuff!

Okay, people! Here is a glimpse inside my sketchbook. There will be more images to come, but so far these are all I have right now that I consider....observable I guess haha.

This is an idea for a copper plate that I may do for printmaking. The inspiration came from a word that a friend of mine used to describe my work. "Fabrication" which I thought was just the perfect definition for the kind of imagery that I produce. I always feel like I'm fabricating a world or just something completely new from my head. So, that's where this image came from.

This is another idea that I may use for another copper print. It was just kind of an experiment. I wanted to see what would happen if I were to draw some plants or trees. My imagination is always going and sometimes I just gotta get it out of my head and onto paper.

This kind of imagery comes about whenever I draw based on what kind of emotion I'm feeling at that time. It has been so long since I last blogged! And I am glad to say that I have some pretty cool stuff to show all of you! This semester I am taking a printmaking class and it is seriously oober fun. I have found new love in the art world :) The process is pretty time consuming and involves a lot of patience, which lucky for me I have plenty off. Well, plenty of patience...I would love to have more time haha! For the printmaking process we are given aluminum plates. Personally I like to draw up some ideas and choose from them. So, during my History of Civ. class I came up with this idea. (While I was paying attention at the same time!)

After coming up with the idea, I covered the plate in a substance called hard ground. Then we etched/drew the design onto the plate using a sharp tool that looks like a long twisted needle. Then after that we stick them into the Acid Bath (cue the ooo's and ahhh's) I know sounds fun right!

The acid bath eats away at the metal on the parts that we etched through on the hard ground. Then we pull them out after about 10 minutes, wash the hard ground off, and they look something like this!

Then its time for the most time consuming part of the whole process. This is where having patience really comes into play. We ink these plates up. Like cover them completely in black ink. Then we wipe the extra ink off, which is what takes patience. Inking, wipeing, and pulling up to 4 prints can take anywhere from an hour to 2 hours! So, after the wipeing of the plate is done we run it through the press bed, which looks like this....

We crank it through there by turning the handle on the side. Then after that it comes out on a sheet of paper looking like this!!!

Freaking Amazing Right!!!! It is so much fun! I titled this piece Stitched. And for your enjoyment here is another picture of a second plate and print that I did, which I titled "Teddy" ^_^

The plate.

And the print! These are the drawings that I worked on over Christmas break! And now they are here for you to see! WHOO! All of these drawings are still pen and ink, but the difference is the variety in the pen sizes I used and the type of paper their done on. My smallest pen was a 005, which is itty bity. I used it for the light shadow's and a 08 for the heavy lines. Also a really fun pen called a painter's pen that I found at Walmart. (FYI: All you art people out there should try one. Their oooober fun ^_^) But anyway, these are basically revamped drawing's of previous character's I've drawn. Reson's for re-drawing them are because the first ones were just on regular paper and they are all crinkled and bent from me carrying them around so much. But thankfully I love these character's so much that I decided to redraw them on much nicer paper and with more thought. Also these images are of my character's that I created for my graphic novel last college semester. Thereby I took a few pictures of two pages from my graphic novel to share with you *cue the applause of an audience* I know... exciting right? So, here they are for your enjoyment!

Lots of Love,

Sherann

Teddy (This character did not make it into the novel due to changes in the storyline)

Tailor (This character plays a very small role in the novel, but has no dialogue.)

Bird and Slinky (The bird played a big part in the novel as a main character. I got some pretty good comments on him. A lot of people said that he was their favorite charater. The slinky played a small role also. Bigger than Tailor's but not as big as the birds.)

This page is when the main character, Will, meet's the Bird for the first time.

The top part is when one of Skull's balloon's takes a chomp out of a kid's ice cream cone. I am so sorry for my lack of blogging lately. Getting ready for school and everything just had me completely booked, but good news is that I have been doing some drawings over break. Including this one! The inspiration for this guy came from some clay people that two of my siblings created. I have been just so intrigued with their form. I've become almost obsessed with drawing these characters over and over. My medium is of course pen and ink on bristol board, which has become my favorite thing to draw on since my graphic novels class. So far there isn't really a name for this guy. I've just been referring to them as dough people. I've been designing new ones apart from my brother's and sister's, so there will definitely be more of these adorable little guys to come. So, keep checking back!

Lots of love!

- Sherann

Hello All!

Hey everyone! The originals I took looked washed out, so I tried to bring out the actual hot pink color of the tape, but...oh well.

These are a pair of my old Chucks. I duct taped them for my friend Al's senior art show. The stitches on the sides are there because I was in love with my graphic novel at the time....and still am. I'm a fan of my own novel haha. So, I can finally share with all of you my projects I've been working on for the last month, which means I'am back in action with my pictures and blogging ^_^
Okay, I meant to share this with you all yesterday, but I was having such a wonderful Christmas day that I just forgot. Anyway, I'm really proud and happy about this one. I did it for myself and because of my love for Tim Burton's movie The Nightmare Before Christmas and the character Jack. In case you didn't know the character giving him the hug is me ^_^

Technique:
I used bristol board for this type of drawing. After my graphic novel class I discovered that I really love to use it for pen and ink work. It holds the ink really well without leaking through. I started by drawing out just a quick sketch of the idea on regular drawing paper. Figured out what I wanted the cartoon character of me to look like then lightly drew it onto the bristol board with a 2B pencil. After feeling satisfied with how it looked I began my favorite part of the process, Inking! yay! I used a Prismcolor pen set that I bought out at Michaels craft store, which I would recommend for all those detailed inkers out there. So, I inked, erased the light pencil underneath, then inked it again.

My inking technique is one that involves a series of lines used in a cross hatching pattern. It takes time and patience...my brain is thinking the whole time about where I'm placing my lines while I'm cross hatching. This technique gives my drawings that kind of dark and harsh type of emotional feeling that I like. So, there you have it! I hope you like it as much as I do ^_^ Happy Holiday's Everyone!

Canstruction Project!!!...It's gonna rock ^_^

Okay, I know I said that I was going to be postponing more posts until I got a new camera, but I could not wait to tell you guys about my next project...or should I say my friend and I's next project. My good friend Al and I are going to be doing a project for the Canstruction event that happens all around the United States every year. People in Florida, Califonia, Arizonia, and even Hawaii participate in this event. It even stretches to places such as Canada and Australia. Watch the video and see. Thank you so much.

This picture is of the final drawings. I went and got one copy printed that will be put into the UGF (University of Great Falls) library. I hope you do to when its all finished.

Fall Auction Commission: Boots!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vAeBkiDr9_4/SwriEVU9n5I/AAAAAAAAAeo/out-giZFoyo/s400/Fall+Auction+Commisssion+012.psd.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5407382866684125074" />This piece is simply called boots. This image was originally a picture actually that my friend Kelsey took. So, feeling immensly inspired by it, I asked her if I could draw the picture for Foothills Fall Auction this year.

This is the first drawing I've done in a long long time. I've been doing a lot of pen and ink work lately. It felt so good to whip out a pencil and just draw. I had almost forgotten how relaxing drawing is. It's a like a form of therpy for me. I drew for seriously, I'm not joking, six hours straight. My hands were shaking by the time I put the final touches on the lettering. I have never felt more exhausted and satisfied after finishing a drawing. So, there you have it. Thanks to Becky for asking me to do the drawing and thanks so much to Kelsey for letting me use her picture.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vAeBkiDr9_4/Swrln10B_mI/AAAAAAAAAew/NChvmOehO54/s400/Fall+Auction+Commisssion+006.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5407386775234674274" />Putting the final touches on the lettering. I wish I could show you guys what she did with her's because it was so flippin' awesome, but unfortunately her masterpiece was destroyed due to destructive younger brothers. Grrr...Anyway, yes, we we're both devastated, but thankfully she picked up another piece of paper and decided that she really loved this craft and has alread started on making a new one. Yay! The bond that I felt to my younger sister though at that moment was so strong when I was working with her by my side. Again experimenting with drawing what I felt at that moment, is what made the images on mine start to live.

For those of you who want to try this craft, here are the instructions.

1. First you need a plain white piece of paper. Or if you want to be really creative like we were you can use colored poster board. The size we used was 11x14 inches.

2. Then find about 5 dark crayons, including two black ones at least. (You can use more. Depends on how thick you want your layer to be.)

3. Start coloring the entire sheet of paper with a darker colored crayon. Use one crayon at a time to cover the entire sheet of paper with a thick layer of crayons.
(Don't freak if the crayons break, it happens all the time. Try to use up every bit of the crayons. Use the two black ones for the final layer!)

4.Then after you have a thick surface. Use a paper clip or some other tool that can be used for carving into the crayon.

5. And have FUN!!!

More Graphic Novel Stuff

These are more character sketches and drawings that are going to be used in my Graphic Novel. Our class had to take pictures and then draw those pictures for the images used in the novel. Then we had to make them into a story line. For mine I decided to do an adventure from a kids point of view type thing. So I ,of course, chose my cute and hilarious brother Noah. He's 7 years old and he just dove in when I asked him to help. He was so excited. I honestly wasn't expecting him to cooperate that well, but he did great!

What I did first was I let him take my camera and just go wild. He took pictures of whatever he wanted to. Then him and I went through the pictures and picked out which ones we liked best. After that we picked which 12 images we liked the most, and started to develop a story. It went so well, all I had to do was just have him describe to me what the images were of and he just said the most hilarious things. The things that are written in the novel are things that he actually said. There are some things though that I had to edit out, because he would start act like a bit of a stinker....like for the picture of Isaac watching tv he said, "This is Isaac. He works out by watching TV."....I thought it was funny, but I don't know if other people would find it funny the way we did. Its kind of an inside joke. Isaac isn't chubby at all, he's actually pretty small...but, better safe than sorry. Anyway, after we developed the story I started to draw out the images, which took me longer than I thought it would, but I'm pretty satisfied with how they turned out. Hope you enjoy it!

-Sherann Johnson

To view all the photos together click on the image below.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://sherannjohnsonsartwork.blogspot.com/2009/10/picture-things-short-graphic-novel.html' title='Picture Things! Which means I see what happens when I draw when I'm feeling sad, angry, happy, or whatever I'm feeling at that moment. (Like what I did when I drew my piece "Anger.") This piece I drew when I was feeling a bit sad. I won't say what I was sad about, but its okay because I'm better now ^_^ (This was done like a week ago.) The medium I used was just a sharpie pen and a vellum marker/pen...which means its a pen on one side and a marker on the other. Yea, tons of fun. The phrase, "These Tears I Cry" doesn't really hold any meaning. Just seemed to suit this particular drawing....but then again I guess it could, when I'm sad I don't normally cry. Crying is a rare thing that happens for me. (I didn't even cry during the Titanic or The Notebook)I drew the tears coming out of the skulls eyes, so instead of physically crying I drew the skull crying...and I drew tears falling in the background...because I rarely shed any of my own tears....So, I guess there you have it..."These Tears I Cry."

Window Art: Chaos

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vAeBkiDr9_4/SsY0VIoTr_I/AAAAAAAAAaw/9lc59UbQSb8/s400/Window+Art+3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5388051541893820402" />This is on my window at home. Took a trip to Target and found these Window Crayons and of course I could not resist buying them. So, I went crazy on my window...yes, it was fun ^_^. The two characters are my characters that I've just drawn from my brain. It's been on the window for awhile now, so the color has started to crack a little, which is pretty cool...adds a nice little effect I think. The Window Crayons are actually pretty good at blending and they dry after a few minutes, so if anyone is interested in doing something fun with their windows, I recommend them.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vAeBkiDr9_4/SsY0nZuCbkI/AAAAAAAAAa4/O0kIhEL9lpI/s400/Window+Art+2+With+Flash.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5388051855718903362" />This is what happened when I took a picture of it with the Flash on...*sigh* I thought it was pretty cool. Been watching a lot of Tim Burton shows and interviews and Chrisopher Nolan type stuff. Oh! And I've figured out how to adjust the brightness on my photos that I take. So, the pictures of my work should be much easier to view now. ^_^ This is just a picture I drew of my character Stitches. This one is of him watching Invader Zim. I havne't come up with a story line yet, so I've just been creating more imagery to help develop the personalities of the characters. I'm pretty satisfied with the style I've chosen to do the drawing part in . I like the dark cross-hatching. Gives it more of a darker feeling. I'm having so much fun coming up with characters and drawing them in different situations. This project is the kind I love doing.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vAeBkiDr9_4/SsJHyyJVkiI/AAAAAAAAAao/HPsh10vbwm0/s400/Character+Development+Sketch+2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5386947042068501026" />I love this drawing ^_^ I still haven't thought up a name for the little slinky character yet. But the bird guy is a new character I came up with a couple days ago. This started out as just a sketch of him, but then I noticed that he was a little slanted, so I thought, "It would be cool if he was standing on top of something." Then the idea to set him on top of the slinky character hit my brain. So, thats the reason for this drawing. Worked out pretty well cause' you get a little glimpse of the slinky characters personality too.

Anger

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 348px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vAeBkiDr9_4/Sty7I3JQf0I/AAAAAAAAAbw/D3XO3npPE6Q/s400/Pen+Drawing+(Anger).jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5394392214599139138" />Alright, this piece I have titled "Anger." The reason for the dramatic title is simply because I was angry when I drew it.(I won't say what I was angry about, but I was on a rampage)I've been wanting to draw this item for awhile now, but I never could bring myself to do it. It was quite funny actually I just pulled out my paper in a rampage, grabbed an item, slammed it on the desk, put the lighting in place, and started to draw...I'm kind of glad I waited till I was angry to draw it though. I don't think it would have had the same affect otherwise. The medium is of course pen.(I've really pen involved with pen work lately because of my graphic novel) and the red coloring was done with a prismcolor marker. I didn't just throw that in, that red stuff is actually on the candle, I took a red crayon awhile back and melted it, then let it drip down the sides. So, yea, there you have it. A little piece of me ^_^ And hey! You even get a close up of my signature there

Character Designs

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vAeBkiDr9_4/StyVVnvR5WI/AAAAAAAAAbI/bjluin84KSI/s400/Character+Designs.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5394350652360090978" />Okay so, these I'm really excited about ^_^ Our final project for my Graphic Novels class is to create our own graphic novel, which I'm totally psyched about. I feel like I'm creating a movie or something:D. The process for creating them was both fun and interesting. Tim Burton plays a big part in inspiring me for these characters. I first got myself into a creative mood first, which I did by turning on a couple of Tim Burton movies and listening to some Skillet and POD. So, after I got into my darkish sort of drawing mood I just took off, and these wonderful characters were created. I love them already to death, and I'm really just working on developing them more as characters to use in my novel. So, you will be seeing more drawings of them as I move along more in creating a story plot.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vAeBkiDr9_4/Sty4Pwj_P4I/AAAAAAAAAbg/CCqzF71Ci9E/s400/Character+Design+2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5394389034556407682" />This characters name is William or Will for short. I have some pretty sweet stuff to show you guys, but for right now lets just start with this one. This is a self portrait that we had to do for an assignment, and since this is a graphic novels class, basically everything I will be creating for this class will be in pen and ink, which I'm pretty excited about.

Okay so, we had to draw a self portait in a meaningful environment. And since I don't have very many pictures of myself up to date(I like to spend my time behind the camera rather than in front of it)I used one from when I was a child. I have no idea how old I was here, but it was my birthday party at my grandma's house. To start this drawing I quickly and lightly did a rough sketch in pencil, and then I went over with a fine point sharpie pen, not the marker, a pen. And I finished it at about 2am...so yea, fun stuff ^_^

Bleeding Hearts

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vAeBkiDr9_4/SrO2hIXAxFI/AAAAAAAAAZo/FbDJ8WaCNQo/s400/Drawing-+Bleeding+Hearts+copy.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5382846659933815890" />
This is another old drawing, but I'm showing it because I have nothing new to show yet, but don't worry, now that school has started I should be busy with some new stuff. So, be patient...new stuff is on the way ^_^. I owe the inspiration for this drawing to a young man named Timothy Pierce. He took pictures of this kind of flower and his mom posted them on facebook. One of the pictures he took was of Bleeding hearts. I had never heard of this type of flower before, and I thought it was just the most beautiful thing ever, and with the most beautiful name. And I thought,"I would really like to draw those flowers some time." Then a week later I got an assignment in my drawing class to draw a plant, and I thought,"Yes! This would be the perfect opportunity to draw those flowers Timothy took picutures of." So, I did, and I'm really happy with how it turned out. Thank you Timothy.

Drumhead: Imagine

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vAeBkiDr9_4/Sqp8gjCnjJI/AAAAAAAAAZg/M3GlfSa4V0g/s400/6540_1191849671011_1071465799_618447_711378_n.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5380249603451358354" />
This project is kinda old, but I decided to share it anyway just because it's so flippin' cool. The reason for this project was for a school experiment. We had to bring in different surfaces to work on and try whatever materials we wanted on them. In my rush to go to class, my dad quickly stopped me and gave me this drumhead, and I was like, "Sweet." So, I took it to class with me and I drew on it with oil pastels, which was pretty fun. The only problem is that the oil pastels tend to remain wet. So, you can't touch it because it smears otherwise, but other than that it turned out pretty well...loads of fun.

Mural Pictures

These are some pictures of our group working on the mural. It's title is "Every Child's Nightmare." Did it for a school art project in Fall of 2008. The size is 50X60inches. Yes, it is huge. I still haven't figured out where to put it. Right now it's in my room leaning against the wall in my closet. The medium is acrylic on canvas.

Ballerina (mural project)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 287px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vAeBkiDr9_4/SoCLsJjMbjI/AAAAAAAAAWo/Dbu49Vw3mjc/s400/Ballerina___mural_project___by_DivineChaos20.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5368444346419670578" />
This is my ballerina I created for the mural. I started out with a sketch in my notebook of about three different ones. Chose which one I liked best, then copied it onto a clear sheet of paper for projecting. Then at 5am we went and projected our images onto the wall and traced them with a very strong smelling sharpie. I'm pretty sure we were all high by the time we finished. Then the next day we began painting.

This is the final result of my figure. I'm pretty satisfied with it. The wall would pretty much eat the paint, so I had to lay it on thick, which wasn't to much of a problem because I do that in most of my paintings anyway. My favorite part is definitely her hair.

Amazing sand artist!...Amazing!!!

My Pastor shared this video with us in church today, and I found it to be so fascinating that I went and looked it up on youtube to share with you. We were supposed to do a found objects sculpture and use one unifying color. So, I went off and searched around for things I wasn't going to use anymore. And I came up with a broken DVD player, and a bunch of jewelry....mostly broken watches....and a bunch of other junk. At first I started out with the idea of putting all the jewelry I had on the DVD player then spray painting it one color. But as I started to move futher along, I placed a bronze arrow head next to a penny and suddenly....BAM! Inspiration struck! My thoughts were like this,"Hmmm, pennies." So, I had to take off all the jewelry I had hot glued on already, which was not an easy task. Never underestimate the strength of hot glue. Then after struggling to get all the stuff off, I unscrewed the DVD player and gutted it out, which is also not an easy task. They do not want you getting into those things. Then I wrapped a CD cover from a soundtrack that I had around the screen and snapped it back into place. I did this because it holds it better after I glue the pennies on it. Then I just took off from there....glueing pennies, adding the remote control. For the color I decided to use a bronze pen I had instead of using bronze spray paint. I thought the pen had a better texture and was also more shiny ^_^ Well, there you have it, my complete process. I love getting feedback, so feel free to leave a comment and tell me what you think.

This is part of a series of penny sculptures that I'm working on. So, there will be more to come ^_^ The character is from one of my favorite movies. Can you guess who it is?

Bronze Pennies

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 142px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vAeBkiDr9_4/ShL--SmZTWI/AAAAAAAAAWE/ZaQZBsGMGlM/s400/Bronze+Pennies+copy.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5337608854485683554" />
Okay, so this I did few weeks ago. It's a found objects sculpture and I had a lot of fun doing it. For a unifying color I chose bronze, which is both fun and difficult to work with. I would tell you more, but my brain is about in a million different places right now. When my professor went to Italy for two weeks this semester, she left us with the brilliant artist, Jean Price, to do some ceramics. Now being new to ceramics I was a little nervous....so, on this project I let the clay get the best of me. I didn't do my best work on this because I was to concerned about all the things I couldn't do, rather than just going for it. So, I'm not completely satisfied with the final result.

For the assignment we had to create a shrine representing whatever we wanted. So, I just randomly picked to do mine to the superheroes of the DC Universe. I did this by just using my basic pinch pot that we started out with . Then added some coiling onto it to make it taller. Then I didn't really know what to do for the top so I just picked a random shape. Then I rolled out some slabs and cut out the shapes of the signs of each superhero, and then placed them around the pot. So...yea...not my best work, but I thought I would share it anyway. I had fun playing around with it on my boat that I designed, which you can see here:
http://divinechaos20.deviantart.com/art/Caution-Boat-121078157
(copy and paste)

For the frame I decided to use some steel bars that my Dad and I found, laying out back of our house we own next door. Then my Uncle and I went over to his house and welded them together. It was my first time welding, so I was a little nervous, but after observing my Uncle do a corner of the frame, he let me take a wack at it and I found it quite awesome...fun stuff welding is. Then I took it home and set it out in my brothers recording studio...because I didn't think I could get it up in my room in the house, so I thought,"Well, I can just work out here, I guess." But then as bands kept walking in to record with my brother I realized I could not work in such public conditions. So, I had my brother Andrew help me carry it into the house and up into my room, which was a very interesting process trying to carry it up the narrow stairway to my room. Then of course I retreated in my room for the rest of the night and worked my little heart out to finish the project before my class this morning. I finished it around 4am. Once again I was like an evil scientist working in my labratory, late at night, on my next creation. I am very satisfied with the final result. ^_^

For a better view of the shelter just click on it and a better view will appear.

Mural Project

I just got done taking my Math final so, my brain is fried right now...but anyway, alright, so, my Painting 1 class and the entire art department of college students over at UGF have been given the opportunity to paint a public mural. The mural is an outdoor project, and so far the process has been great, but then we were delayed a few days because of the record breaking snow storm of 24 inches . Thus the weird weather of Montana. We were to create a boat in anyway we chose without any restrictions on size. I originally was planning on doing something with wire. Then about a week later, the night before the project was due, Inspiriation struck ^_^ I was wandering out in our shop (big garage), and I saw a roll of caution tape sitting on top of one of the speakers, and I thought, "That would be cool." So, I took the caution roll and retreated into my room for the rest of the night.

First I made the frame out of wire, then I wrapped the frame in duct tape, which took about 4 hours to do both. By this time it was about 11pm. Then it was time for the caution tape. Now it wasn't exactly tape, it was plastic. So, I had to whip out hot glue gun and glue all of the pieces into place, which was about a 5 hour process. I was like an evil scientist brewing up my next evil creation throughout the night.

At 6am, after no sleep and about 30 times of burning myself with the hot glue gun. I stood back and looked at my creation. I'm pretty satisfied with the final result. I might want to do it on a larger scale next time...heck, maybe I'll do a whole series of caution tape stuff.

This is pretty much Amazing

I was doing a little browsing today, and I found this awesome liquid artist named Martin Waugh's.
